Solutions

While there are issues with the destruction of the primate's environment, there are solutions that can lead to a more controlled industry and prevent environmental issues. One solution would be to create orchards that would grow and harvest tropical lumber and oils. The use of greenhouses and hydroponics farming can mean the use of the forests can end due to the use of modern techniques. This can also mean the industry can expand into other regions of the world outside of the tropics. The use of material sciences and engineering could also reduce the need for natural materials such as latex and rubber, these materials could be cheaper to produce and wouldn't require the harvesting of plants to do so. Synthetic rubber already consists of 2/3rds of the worlds supply in rubber. Sustainable housing and building methods could help with better use of land and resources, new housing projects such as using recycled cargo containers to create apartments or houses rather than using lumbe

The Effects of Industry

Industries that contribute to the loss in the environment for primates are large exporters around the globe dealing in lumber, oils, latex, rubber, and other products that can be found in tropical regions. Because of the demand of tropical lumber and palm oils are high this means harvesters, mills, and refineries must keep up with that demand. This leave an unchecked amount of destruction and has not only a negative impact on primates but almost 50% of the worlds animal and plant life. The first step would be to reduce demand for materials such as tropical lumber and find more sustainable methods of lumber production. Another step would be to use more synthetic materials like latex rather than harvesting the natural variant. Food products found in tropical regions can also be turned to more tamed methods such as farming tropical fruits and nuts in greenhouses that allow for farming these products outside of tropical regions to cut back on the excess clearing and use of the land. Introduction

Primates face a situation where their environments are being taken over because of human development and the growing of the global economy. This is acts such as deforestation and the rapid development of towns and cities around the world. Without the proper consideration and regulations the environments that these animals live in can be completely destroyed and could lead to their extinction. The purpose of this blog is to raise awareness for these animals and promote better regulations and rights to protect them.
