Solutions
While there are issues with the destruction of the primate's environment, there are solutions that can lead to a more controlled industry and prevent environmental issues. One solution would be to create orchards that would grow and harvest tropical lumber and oils. The use of greenhouses and hydroponics farming can mean the use of the forests can end due to the use of modern techniques. This can also mean the industry can expand into other regions of the world outside of the tropics. The use of material sciences and engineering could also reduce the need for natural materials such as latex and rubber, these materials could be cheaper to produce and wouldn't require the harvesting of plants to do so. Synthetic rubber already consists of 2/3rds of the worlds supply in rubber. Sustainable housing and building methods could help with better use of land and resources, new housing projects such as using recycled cargo containers to create apartments or houses rather than using lumber.
